It’s not a secret that I love, love, love smoothies. I start my day with a smoothie, and I use smoothies to help boost my milk production. It wasn’t until the last year that I started adding nutritional powders to give my smoothies an extra boost.
Nutritional powders are a great way to enhance the flavor and nutritional value of your smoothies. I’ve tried a good amount of nutritional powders and I’m here to give you the run down on my thoughts and opinions on each one.
These shakes are very similar when it comes to the vitamins and minerals they contain. However, you can research one individually to see which one will best meet your needs. This is just a quick run-down of my favorite plant-best smoothie booster.
(Disclaimer: I’m not a nutritionist. I’m just a mom giving my opinion on each one of these items. Please consult with your doctor first to make sure these would be a good addition to your diet. I will not be held responsible if you try these and have an adverse reaction or do not like them. Sorry for this disclaimer, but I just have to put this out there.)
The Best Plant-Based Smoothie Boosters
I’m going to be honest and say that Shakeology was the best tasting smoothie out of all of the plant-based shakes that I’ve tried. Not only did it have a rich chocolate flavor I loved the smooth texture of it. A whole bag of shakeology lasted a whole month, even with me making more than one shake a day. However, the price tag prevented me from being a repeat customer. I think $120 for a nutritional shake is just ridiculous.
Vega all-in-on shake is my second favorite. The price is much more reasonable than shakeology, but it is still on the expensive side. The great thing is my local Whole Food’s market constantly has this on sale. The texture isn’t as smooth as shakeology but it comes pretty darn close. Vega shakes also taste amazing! I love the range of flavors they have. Vega is Non-GMO and organic.
Whole Foods Brand Plant Based Nutritional Shake (Dark Chocolate)
I like Whole Foods market nutritional shake powder. The Dark Chocolate is my favorite flavor. The vanilla caramel has a very weird under taste. The only thing I don’t like about this brand is that it is very gritty. Sometimes, I find myself turned off by the texture but I can look past that because of the price. These normally run $29.99 and I can catch these on sale. When they do go on sale, I usually stock up.
These isn’t a nutritional powder (it is protein), but I thought I would still add it to the list. I recently started using Sun Warrior Brand and I must say that I like it. It keeps me full and the taste is very mild (I wish chocolate taste was a little stronger). The texture is also really smooth, which I love. The price point is great for the quality (it’s organic and non-GMO).
If you read my Breasfeeding Meal Plan post, I mention Garden of Life meal replacement. I love that this shake is raw and organic. I also love that price is great for the amount of shake you get. It does have a “plant-taste”, but I still think it taste delicious. My husband hates the taste, but I actually don’t mind it. I don’t expect a product that is raw to taste like a milk shake. This product also contains live probiotics, which is a plus.
I often switch back and forth between these brands (except shakeology)depending on price and my nutritional needs at the time. I hope that you found this guide helpful.
