You may see her smiling with her cooing baby and think “wow, that mom seems so happy”. But behind that smile lies a heart full of sadness. She isn’t sad because of anything in particular, she is sad just because. A dark cloud hangs over her head, that she can’t get rid of. This mom is depressed…
This is just one way that postpartum depression may present itself. However, in honor of Mental Health Awareness month I want to share stories of postpartum depression from other moms. Postpartum depression isn’t something that can automatically be seen, it leaves clues. I feel the more we spread awareness about this, the more mother’s can seek treatment and get help. They need to know they aren’t alone.
I would like the thank all of the mother’s who contributed to this round up and were brave enough to share their stories. You ladies are going to help so many Here is my story about my postpartum depression/anxiety, and a little update on my current mental state.
