While browsing the children’s book section at the library, I came across so many amazing books that celebrated diversity. I try to make it my mission to teach my children to appreciate and respect other people’s culture, background, and heritage. There is so much that can be learned by getting know different cultural backgrounds. I truly love the richness and diversity that can be soaked up from just reading a book. Here are my picks for children’s books that celebrate diversity.
These children’s book not only celebrates cultural diversity, they celebrate diversity in people. I’ve included books that talk about children with autism, hearing impaired and children with disabilities. I feel these are important because children are curious about these things. I know I’ve encountered situations where I didn’t know how to articulate to my children difference amongst us. Books are a perfect way to do this.
