I didn’t believe in the power of affirmations until I connected them to something more. Most affirmations have you repeat phrases or words over-and-over to yourself until they become ingrained in your mind. It sounded great, but it did nothing for me. That was until I connected those affirmations to God. He said that we were made in His image, therefore, we are apart of Him and His greatness. He instilled everything we need to be great mothers inside of us, we just have to access it. I feel affirmations for moms are very important. We are the center of our household, and we pump life into our families. Affirmations help us stay balanced and focused.

The Problem With Affirmations
Us moms don’t have an appreciation for our position in our household because we are tired and drained. Being the life source of a family is very tiring, and sometimes we began to resent it because our families take, while rarely giving back to us. They don’t take from us purposely, it is just how it happens. So we find ourselves giving, giving and giving. Then we are depleted of our resources and we don’t have a place to refuel us.
Also, we may start negative patterns of thinking. It could negative thoughts about ourselves, husbands, children or our lives in general. These thoughts can start to shape our reality, and then life starts to seems bleak. Affirmations can help rid our minds of negative talk, and replace them with words that will help nourish our souls.
When affirmations are coupled with our identity in God, it is then that we are able to reenergize and conquer the world again. It’s a team effort with us and our Heavenly Father. Affirmations alone can’t do this.
Who Is God?
Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.” (Exodus 3:13–15)
Do you see how God identified Himself…I AM. God is the Great I AM. Since we are made in his image we are apart of His identity. I AM is a powerful phrase, by using it you are coupling God’s identity with your identity. That is why it is wise to make sure you pair I Am with something positive and full of love because that is what God is.
